SAMURAI MUSEUM

QUESTION

FAQ (Answers to most frequently asked questions)

What is the Samurai Museum?

For the approximately 700 years of the samurai age (Kamakura to Edo periods), Japan faced a number of conflicts from outside its borders. There were two invasions by Mongolian forces that needed to be repelled. The Age of Discovery brought the Spanish Armada as well as the Portuguese, who both put the sovereignty of many East-Asian countries in peril, to Japanese shores. Commodore Perry brought warships from the United States, demanding that Japan reopen its borders. We want to introduce those brave samurai warriors who faced many difficulties to not only only Japanese people but also to people visiting from all over the world.
